  1. Hello Everyone, I have read a lot of press about Joffrey recently and was curious about this company. Can some of you give me some info about the quality of dancers, theatre, typical season(as far as pay or weeks working) hiring etc?? Any info would be appreciated, I am interested in this company and would love any information you have to share about it. I've never seen them live either although I know they tour fairly often and come to LA a lot.Are these dancers busy and happy at the moment?? Plus I heard the city is just great! Thanks again for any feedback, I appreciate it! PS: How do you all feel Ashley is doing with the company since he has gotten in and any rumors of 09'-10' season rep?? Thanks! Cadancelover~
  2. My daughter said it was a great show and a great evening for Marcia and the company! All the guests that did dance had special ties to the company during Marica's time there so it made it very special. The show was taped so hopefully it will be produced for sale at some point, or at least shown on German TV.
  3. Anyone out there on Ballet Alert attending?? Wish I was, I bet it will be great!
  4. Must put in my two cents on this subject. Stuttgart Ballet has to be considered a "top" company. They perform both classical and modern ballet with such strength and entertainment quality. Sorry I don't care to watch NYCB do "classical" ballet!
  5. Well another season is opening for Stuttgart Ballet tonight and wondering if there are any readers of this forum living in the Stuttgart area that will be attending any of the upcoming shows and can post a review?????
  6. I'm sorry but I saw Part in a small roll in ABT's Silvia in Orange County. I had never seen her before and was quite surprised that she is quite big for a soloist and found myself distracted by that while watching her dance.
  7. Very sad news. Young ballet dancers all across America have lost a great advocate. Ms. Wright was very supportive and helpful in guiding my daughter into a professional career in ballet as I am sure she did for many others. She will be missed. My family and our studio would like to send flowers or a donation to the American Cancer Society or whatever charity Ms. Wrights family designates. Can anyone help with this information. Perhaps Ms. Leigh can get all of us some info on this.
  8. I saw the show this afternoon. Overall I would say it was a strong show. The corp could have looked a little more awake, although they did have nice smiles for the second act waltz. As far as the leads go .......I thought Olesia Novikova did a okay job. Her technique was solid, but I agree with others that she did not get into the roll enough. She hardly smiled when she looked at her prince after the kiss. And I must strongly disagree with a previous post about Anton Korsakov. I found his technique stong but his partnering in the beginning was not too good. He did not make much eye contact with his partner and they had one mistake where Olesia had to put her foot down briefly and then go back to attitude. Not good. I was surprised that they pulled off the 3rd act pretty well. And he has very little stage presence. He seems very short and the audience hardly applauded when he made his first entrance. (They didn't know it was the prince) That is telling. I loved the lilac fairy. She was the best in the show. I just like taller dancers, they have a better line. I would also like to make a comment on the afternoon crowd at the Music Center. I was stunned at how many people around us were talking during the show. (Of course there were lots of kids in the audience. And many people jumped up at the end of the show and made a bee line for the exits, right in front of those of us who were trying to applaud for the dancers. Very rude
  9. The ca stands for California. My daughter is a new member of Stuttgart Ballet.
  10. Just wondered if anyone saw the season opening of Stuttgart's Sleeping Beauty this past week?
