  1. I have written two letters to Ms. Brown, two letters to Peter Martins and one letter to the chairman of the NYCB board. I have had no reply. The last letter said good bye after subscribing through five decades.
  2. ...and I thought there would not be too much discussion on NYCB during the off season.
  3. I will again make my prediction that some principles at ABT will get an invitation to join NYCB.
  4. I agree. It's especially difficult to navigate if you're on a Macintosh, as the only browser that seems to show everything properly is Internet Explorer - and that hasn't been updated for ages (and Microsoft has even said they are discontinuing development on the Mac version). Anyway, I sent an email to the NYCB office asking them about it, and this is the reply I received : I hope it comes out soon. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Anyone see any changes in the NYCB website? I haven't (and it is late August).
  5. I have seen Costas taking pictures during performances from one of the viewing rooms.
  6. Today I finally got a recording of La Sonnambula. Thank you all for your suggestions.
  7. Any luck? I would like to have the music of Western Symphony also.
  8. I didn't see the announcement and didn't know of her promotion until I received the City Center brochere in the mail today. I did think she should be made a principle for some time now. I also thought that NYCB would invite her to join them. This seems to be the first promotion in many years for ABT.
  9. I would like to see all four parts of Western Symphony.
  10. I was suprised to hear about this group. I though Nilas was more into music.
  11. I predict that NYCB will be inviting some male members of ABT to join them.
  12. It sounds like it was her decision to leave. I will miss her. I have seen her a few times on the street. Most recently getting on the M66 bus. She acted like she recognized me.
  13. It was interesting that on Friday in West Side Story Ashley had red hair. On Saturday she had brown.
  14. Dan Ulbright in Friday's Four Seasons "Fall" was awsome. I don't remember his character having so many incredible kicks. The costumeMegan Fairchild wore in "Winter" seemed different to me. But I'm not sure what. Did anyone else notice?
  15. I agree I think NYCB is looking great. Now if we could bring in younger people to enjoy them all would be well.
  16. I think of the poor struggling want-to-be-a-better dancer that wants practice music and sees in the store that a CD of Chopin music is a lot cheaper than practice music on a CD of the same length.
  17. Anyone know why the ballet pratice music cd's are so expensive?
  18. Can some of "Balanchine's day" be brought back?
  19. I believe that Andrea Quinn has improved the sound of the NYCB orchestra. The new contract helped with rehersals but she also changed a principle or two. I also like to believe that it was her idea to have spots lights shine on the orchestra when they take their bow at the end of the final intermission. Recognition is good. Remember Mr. B. felt the dance AND the music is important.
  20. At the Saturday evening and Sunday performances I sensed a good deal of the dancers interacting with smiles to each other and giving the sense that they were really enjoying what they were doing. Was it due to the snow and they knew that only the die-hard fans would be in the audience, or were they glad with the promotions, did they get a good pep talk just before curtain or was it Mr. B's birthday grace pouring down on them?
  21. I saw Janie Taylor in SQUARE DANCE ON Saturday night. I'm not a fan of hers but she looked radiant (big smile almost all the time) probably from having been told of her promotion. I may become a fan. I agree with the thoughts about Megan Fairchild. She does everything techinally correct and very well, but it doesn't come from her heart-all mechanical. While seeing "After the Rain" I thought the male dancers Chris used would be the next principles (Edward Liang and Ask La Cour). I can't add much of anything to what has been said about Ashley. Offstage she can walk right by you and you wouldn't notice her (maybe it is her hat). But onstage she blinds you. I must remember to bring my sunglasses to her next performance.
  22. Did anyone else leave before Stabat Mater?
  23. With all of the bad things about Borree that were just written, Let me put in my two cents that I like her dancing.
  24. Anyone know what happened to BORREE? Was she injured doing Nutcracker on Sunday?
  25. Did anyone see the January 2nd 1 PM matinee NYCB performance? Did Yvonne Borree hurt herself? Did she complete her role?
