  1. The Washington Post has a lovely long article about the role of James, and the line of dancers who have danced it, in today's paper. We are getting David Hallberg for several performances!! http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...9012904467.html
  2. Well, by broadcasting a Martins ballet, NYCB bypasses the Balanchine Trust and all the accompanying rights issues. While Martins's R & J is one ballet I don't feel the need to see again, at this point I will take all and any NYCB broadcasts I can get. I wonder who will dance. R + J isn't in the repertory of the NYCB ballerinas I feel need to be recorded the most -- namely, Bouder, Ringer, Kowrowski.
  3. These were on sale last year at the NYCB gift shop. I haven't been by the giftshop recently, but I imagine they're still available.
  4. How exciting for him! I wonder how this will affect his plans to dance as a guest with POB? (From his website: "I have to notice that it will be absolutly a non definitive farewell as a performer, and i will continue to perform as a guest." Legris hasn't done much (any?) choreography at POB. But he did choreograph a pas de deux for Dorothée Gilbert and Mathieu Ganio during the last "Manuel Legris et ses étoiles" tour in Japan in 2007. I think it was called "Donizetti Variations." They're some pictures floating around on the internet.
  5. Paloma Herrera graduated from SAB, so that would make sense. Who is Diana?
  6. That seems fair. The only problem is that it seems like dancers sometimes are taped in roles that don't suit them. Gillot is much better in modern pieces, and Dupont in the traditional full lengths, IMO. I agree about Gilbert. But she danced Henriette, so that's something. I suppose the powers that be figured they have lots of time to film her, as she is so young.
  7. Oh no, no, no! Gillot is all wrong for Raymonda. Why don't they tape Aurélie Dupont? I suppose we should just be glad that it's finally being taped.
  8. I'm so excited for Bouder and Taylor. Taylor was really on last night in Square Dance. It was a marvelous evening - definitely worth trekking though the snow!
  9. Well, Weese is dancing Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux in Japan - her partner is TBA though.
  10. I'd love to see Miranda Weese in Emeralds again. Saw her when City Ballet came to Washington, DC, and she was stunning.
