  1. Absolutely. Readers know I love Janie, and I am elated. Good for all of the great dancers. This was very good news.
  2. I went to Thursday's performance, and every one was dancing with great verve and enjoyment and pleasure. I love ActII of "THe Nutcracker" for Dewdrop and the Sugar Plum Fairy, but I know the dancers grow weary of it, and last evening they danced brilliantly: Standouts: Reichlen Taylor, Rutherford. Why Janie and Rachel are not principals makes me nuts. BRAVA.
  3. I am thrilled to be seeing Janie tonight, the 6th. Will this be her breakthrough to pricipal year? JI(M <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  4. kATHLEEN: YOUR REMARK IS HILARIOUS. DEANNA LEFT 2 YEARS AGO, AND I KNOW SHE WAS GETTING MARRIED. SHE DID/ DOES? DANSKIN ADS, AND WAS IN THE NYCB WORKOUT TAPE. SHE HAD BEATEN SCOLIOSIS, AND I ONCE WROTE HER TO APPLAUD HER BRAVERY, AND RECEIVED A NICE NOTE FROM HER. SHE WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITES, AND I WILL ALWAYS MISS HER. JIM
  5. I JOIN YOU ALL IN LOVING NINA, AND WISHING HER WELL, JIM
  6. I love Maria Kowroski. She has those incredicbly long and lovely legs. Always a joy to see her dance any role.
  7. Oberon: I agree forever with you; no event-not even Britney or Madonna or WWF-sells out every night. After working all day , my wife and I sometimes abandon our fourth ring tickets for Thursday nights, but when we go, we mostly love the programs; unlike a good many of you, we are not Stravinsky lovers. We loved NYCB this season, fell in love with Sylvie, sickened over Janie's inflamed foot, loved Veronika Part and Paloma at ABT.We hope to see the Lincoln Center Ashton---Hey how great was he?------ on 07/17.
  8. DRT was maybe the worst movie I've seen since "As Good as it Gets" What a dog. If you see the ending of DRT , please explain it to me. "Gosford Park" was okay. I have not see 'Short Cuts' I am not a major Altman fan. My favorite movie of all-time is "Babette's Feast." Which reminds me to ask? When did Woody Allen last make a watchable movie?
  9. I had a real fine time at ABT on July 1, seeing Paloma and Gomes dance R and J; I have always loved Paloma, and I thought she was most tragic. Some incredile lifts in this ballet,eh? Not a great ballet for a pas loving man such as I. Too much sword play, too many people, but just for the balcony scene an ejoyable use of 20.00
  10. Yes, Nina is a great Odile/Odette, and I'm happier now that I was when I read Dale's review. Bye Bye Boris.
  11. To all Sylve fans: She has a web site: wwwsofsylve.com, and it has lots of photos.
  12. let me say that I am delighted that I opted for "Swan Lake" at ABT which was wonderful, and not for BE. Oh, I loved Dale's review, and I trust her judgments 300000%. I like to sit outside of the stage door and see the dancers coming in -----some of them were eating sushi-----and when I saw Sofiane I waved and she smiled and waved back, so I am now hopelessly in love with yet another ballerina. Everyone's been saying it: she is an etoille.
  13. cabro: Thanks for the info. jim
  14. oh yes, sylvie was magnificent. Thanks for making me add that. What magnificent extensions. q: What is the Step in Apollo called when the dancers walk forward on their heels?
  15. Wow: If George Ballanchine had just made one ballet and he called it "Apollo," he'D be in the choreography hall of fame. I thought That Hubbe LOOKED like Apollo should look, and he danced brilliantly. The intertwing moves he makes with his three partners always knocks me out. A very slim turnout up in the fourth ring, but a good audience. I still thonk Darci is wonderful.
  16. Yes, Oberon, Dale and I were there. I enjoyed the three ballets, but my wife was home sick, and I do not much like "West Side," although I liked the play and the movie. Since I love her, I was glad to see Janie. And I am in concert with the Tessy fans. Have you much more knowledgable than I balletomanes seen "The Company' and "Center Stage"? I would love yor comments. My wife , who is better, and I will see "Raymonda" with Michelle Wiles at the 06/05/ 04 matiness. I keep learning from you experts, and I love it.
  17. To all: I posted a private e-mail to Bobbi, and I hate to sound like Arlene Croce(whom I admire) on not seeing a Bill Jones dance because the content made her queasy, but I/We are passing on Shambards. I am going every Thursday and on many weekends with my wife, but we will be sure to pass on Wheeldon. Come on. I think his "best" was a derivative Carousel dance. The music was already wondefully there. I'll bet that Alexandra and Michael and Leigh and Bobbi and Oberon could make better dances than Wheeldon. Can I just see "Serenade" every night?
  18. cabro: Thanks: I did not see your post. Sickness to janie I can Take, injuries are just too too long-term. Yes, where is Abi, Tewsley? Korbes? I see she is to dance Friday. and I hope to soon see her on Thursday nights. Thanks for the information. jim
  19. I can't help myself:I could see Symphony in C for 11 hours a night. Last winter a lot of persons found Benjamin Milliped to be outstanding , and he was tonight. I'm up in the fourth ring, and it was empty.Driving to work this morning in chilly, but sunny weather, I felt great for the first time in 2004: the sun was out, the flowers were growing and NYCB was back. To all: Happy spring and many more.
  20. Oh no, do not tell me janie is newly injured or not yet recovered from her winter injury. Nuts. I'm going in tomorrow night, and I now feel sad becasue she was originally cast. Whayever dancers earn, it is too little.
  21. I was elated to see that Janie is cast which means-Thank God--that she recovered from her winter injury. I'll know spring is here when I see the ballet on 4/29. It looks like a great ballet menu.
  22. There were no boos last night for Ashley Bouder; she was magnificent and I closely watched and to my eyes she stayed on pointe gloriously in every movement. She seemed assured and smiled and did not look scared at all. Tough isn't it to start the night off with the rose adagio? I have never heard a boo at any ballet. Woetzel is just so great amd Maria is incarnate as the Lilac Fairy. I loved last night's "Sleeping Beauty."
  23. Oberon and Michael, thnk you very much. Your knowledge makes me feel good. I feel lost knowing that the season ends 02/28. I just wish Janie Taylor health since she is my current favorite at NYCB.
