  1. Good news on the Boston Ballet front! The Boston Globe reports: Full story's at: Ballet, Wang agree to keep dancing together
  2. :offtopic: They may soon be able to marry in this state of the union (MA)!
  3. I think it's a clever idea, and it might work if the proper events were scheduled. I know that my dd discovered in her school's gym class that only she and one other dancer were able to complete a 45 minute aerobic & strengthening video workout; the rest of the girls gave up (including the ones on the various sports team). But this kind of "competition" should definitely bring in both ballet fans and sports fans. Out of the box thinking!
  4. I also hate the use of last year's contribution to calculate what you "should" give this year. It validates the bromide "No good deed goes unpunished." :sweating: And the absolute worst in fundraising that I've seen is the private school that my 14 year old dd attended until second grade (we left during an upheaval at the school, and not in pleasant circumstances) - they not only send my husband and me their Annual Reports, but now send her a solicitation as a 9th grade alumna -let's just ignore the fact that she didn't graduate from that school!
  5. And who (of a certain age) can forget her tap-dancing commercial for Great American Soups?
  6. OOPS! I guess it's time to get these contacts checked!
  7. Well, there is now some good news for the Boston Ballet. :grinning: In the last few days, the company received an $8 million (yes, million) dollar bequest from a recently deceased supporter. And yesterday, a couple who wishes to remain anonymous made a high six-figure donation to the company. Maybe this will help while the Ballet tries to find a new home for the Nutcracker - unfortunately, no additional news on that front.
  8. Hello. I understand that the Ajkun Ballet Theatre does auditions for its summer "Performing in NY" summer program. Does anyone know of this company? Is it well-regarded in Australia? Thanks.
