  1. I too attended(two-thirds of) the Wed. Ligeti-Wheeldon performance. For the most part I agree with harpergroup. However I did in particular enjoy the unaffected dancing of Glenn Keenan in the first piece (Polyphonia). She seemed undaunted by the task of filling the shoes of Ms. Ansanelli and in fact brought an innocence to her solo that I found particularly appealing. I also adored Mr. Marcovici (please pardon me if I've spelled his name incorrectly). His partnering was every bit as solid as Jock Soto's and his attentiveness to the breath-taking Wendy Whelan did nothing but enhance his own presence. And as to Ashley Bouder who took on Ms. Ansanelli's role in Morphoses, I once again enjoyed the fresh interpretation. Ms. Bouder's energy is unparalleled. I sadly cannot comment on the last piece as I succumbed to the heat of the Miller Theater and had to leave. I must add that setting aside the over-heated enirons, I did like the intimacy of the Miller Theater. I'll go back perhaps in January.
  2. I intended to add to my morning post but GeorgeB fan summed all up beautifully. I would only add that Maria is luminous in her own right, and whether or not she can hold a candle to Suzanne Farrell did not add or subtract from my total enjoyment of the evening's performance.
  3. I don't post often but I had to mention the stand out dancing of Glenn Keenan and Antonio Carmena last night in Emeralds- joyful and lush at the same time-Wonderful! I will post later about Sofiane and Maria
  4. I may have lost the thread of this discussion but if any of you are saying that nycb has no coaching by former dancers, that simply isn't the case.
  5. "Truth is, maybe he's missing what we're seeing" calliope Thanks ,Calliope. Somehow that sentence gave me comfort. I think there is a world of truth in it. And I know what you mean about the money-driven state of the arts--- but then isn't that just the American way?
  6. Gottlieb and Iannone should be tarred and feathered and run out of their respective jobs. Their "reviews" are no more than personal attacks-- unprofessional and frankly, boring.
  7. Left before Vienna but thoroughly enjoyed what I saw. Highlights were Korbes, Keenan, and Carmena in Interplay. Korbes is like watching warm honey being poured. Keenan is like a fawn who has found its legs and Carmena---- is Carmena. Tsch. Pas was somehow both hectic and brilliant at the same time. Not much to say about Vespro.
