  1. The cover of the CC season brochure shows Julie and Marcelo in Leaves Are Fading and K Boone and I Stappas in Baker's Dozen.Maybe, this will be the planned casting.Any ideas for LAF casting?Stella/David?
  2. The winners are listed in the website including a Junior bronze medal for for Lonnie Weeks of Texas Ballet Theatre.Any info on this dancer?
  3. Did Herman danced in last night's SL?I hope he will be able to dance with Sarah this Sunday's SL.
  4. In a Dance Magazine interview(2-3 years ago?),K Mc mentioned that among the future plans of ABT included productions of Ashton's Sylvia and Napoli. If they do Napoli, i hope he will leave the staging to someone from RDB. Did anyone hear about this possible production?
  5. Amen to that, and to losing the block scheduling. I know it would be fruitless to ask them not to cast every single female principal in every title role but that would also go a long way towards improving the spring season. I would love to see ABT do more Ashton - Monotones, Les Patineurs, Symphonic Variations, Rhapsody & The Two Pigeons are on my wishlist. In addition to commissioning new work I'd also love to see them present a little more from their own past (Massine, Lichine and keep reviving Fokine, Tudor & de Mille) as well as bringing in productions from current and recent ballet choreographers like Bejart, Cranko, Petit, Neumier and Forsythe. Gala Performance sounds perfect for the Tudor Centennial, and Dale suggested perfect casting. In addition to Tudor's R&J (which I've never seen) I'd love to see a revival of Lilac Garden. I can see the first cast - Kent as Caroline, Saveliev as The Man She Must Marry, Gomes as her Lover and Murphy as the Other Woman. Then Abrera/Stappas/Corella/Boone. Or Lane/Radetsky/Cornejo/Copeland… or Fang/Pastor/Hallberg/Wiles
  6. Some people might find it a minor Ashton but Thais PDD would be perfect for Veronikaa d Marcelo imo.
  7. Is it too early to have such a list? Anyway, a revival of Ashton's La Fille... and Don Q, both with H Cornejo and S Lane would be a good start.
  8. It is great news. I'm not very familiar with Kajiya but I look forward to seeing her. All others I am familiar with and each is special in his/her own way. I'm glad ABT went with variety. Funny, a few years ago I thought ZHONG-JING FANG was soon to be soloist material. Maybe she still is but seems to have lost steam. It's a difficult profession! i have always had the same thought and was slightly disappointed that she was not included in this batch(all deserving thier promotion) but she has what it takes to be a soloist(or eventually, a principal)Let us just hope that it will not take ABT a very long time for the next promotions.
  9. It is too bad for this injury to happen now to Veronika. She could have shown Mr. Macauley what she can do with the right role for her.I hope it not serious and we will see her next season.
  10. According to the Met website(Ticket order), Stella Abrera will replace Xiomara Reyes in Cinderella on Wed matinee and saturday night.

    Sarah Lane

Maybe, these two magazines know something that might happen soon.
  12. Congratulation to both of them but this not the promotion announcement we are all waiting for.
  13. I have always thought that Zhong Jing Fang would be the next one to be promoted but so far she has not been cast in a big soloist role( aside from her Symphonic Variation) . She always stands out even when in the corp de ballet.
  14. The winners are listed in the NYIBC website. It was almost an all Korean sweep.
  15. You are probably right but a Murphy- Hallberg cast would be nice too.Any ideas for "Leaves..." Abrera maybe, she is unlike Kirkland (who I saw in the role) but has an air of mystery and fluidity that might work. A connected topic - ABT is ripe for promotions. I had assumed that Part would become a principal soon. Is that happening? Could Abrera be on the principal track? Also, I have been rooting for a Lane promotion to soloist. Are any promotions likely to be announced any time soon? I feel like this site is sometimes like "the oracle." Unfortunately, K Mckencie doesn't listen to "the oracle" but the ABT higherups seems to be pushing J Mathews to more soloist roles than any other male member of the corp. There seems more promising females than males in the present group. Any other names?
  16. According to ABT site, D Hallberg is replacing E Stiefel on the June 27th Swan Lake. I hope he will be back soon.He was terrific as Lescaut last week.
  17. You are probably right but a Murphy- Hallberg cast would be nice too.Any ideas for "Leaves..."
  18. Craig danced Mercutio, including the Mandolin solo, with the Paloma-Marcelo cast. I thought , he was terrific.
  19. In the last picture in C maple's Blog, the caption states, "Kirk and Susan Peterson". Are Kirk Peterson and Susan Jaffe married?
  20. The season is only 2 weeks?I thought there were plans to extend the season to 4 weeks.Ballo and Leaves are fading are something to look forward to.
  21. I hope ABT can convince Alessandra to do another R and J before her soldout farewell.
  22. Isn't that Charles Askegard waving(behind MVHamel) in picture#3?
  23. NYSusan, "Shimmering epaulment, breathtaking balances, perpect purity of line", it sounds like you're describing a memorable Aurora!
  24. Thanks Haglund for the quick reply. Who danced the fairies in this performances?Same as openning night(except Ricetto) Thanks.
