  1. Umm... This is a weird question, but I want to know. When watching a performance, where do you look? I mean, in class I'm told that 75% of the time, audience members watch from the waist up. But I find that when I'm watching a dance performance, I concentrate on the line, the feet, and the movement itself. NOT the facial expression. Every now and then I look at the face, but I tend to watch the actual dancing. I think that it's insulting to the dancer(s) or choreographer(s) to watch the face and not what you initially came for. what do y'all think?
  2. why must you seperate the different artistic forms in order to determine which you liked and which you didn't particularly care for? might you enjoy the entire performance, all the components? I mean, everyone interprets things (i.e. choreography, expression, etc...) differently. please reply
  3. I totally agree. I think any dancer who just 'does' the steps and doesn't emote doesn't do much for the audience. it's purdy much just a waste of their time. i love watching dancers who, even if they 'suck,' they LOVE 2 dance and u can see it through their dancing. it's the only way to go. i mean, if u don't love to dance, then maybe it's not your thing. i dunno. maybe im just weird,or, like u say, picky, but id rather see dancers who aren't perfect but who really love to do what they're doing.
  4. hey... I'm new here and all, but I agree with floss. technique IS important, but some people are so focused on extension and flexibility that they're willing to throw line, alignment, and turn out out the window. this is upsetting to me too, and I wanna know why we can't have both?
