  1. I'm always struck by the difference between SAB's rather cozy, personalized IG account that's filled with pictures of students, classes, teachers, and what not, and NYCB's extremely corporate IG. The two institutions are so interconnected, but SAB's IG account seems run by someone who truly loves SAB, and NYCB's IG account seems like it's run by someone whose job it is to run a company social media account.
  2. Certain things sell well. MSND was nearly sold out, so were most of the Swan Lake programs.
  3. I really enjoyed Symph in Three Movements last night. Will miss Hyltin in the central role.
  4. Fairchild and Veyette have actually danced together several times since they divorced. One was a last-minute throw on Allegro Brillante. Another was a run of Divertimento #15's. They also did the Costermonger pas de deux in Union Jack. That was actually a bit awkward because they play a bickering couple, but they were good sports about it.
  5. Some looks from the fall fashion gala: https://guestofaguest.com/new-york/events/inside-the-glamorous-scene-at-the-new-york-city-ballet-fall-fashion-gala-2022?slide=1
  6. Sara is out for the gala tonight. She posted that she has a small injury.
  7. She's had some big assignments: Piano Pieces, Raymonda Variations. She's recovering from a major surgery so they probably don't want to push her too much.
  8. Week 3 of casting is finally up. I have the feeling there will be changes as Mejia and Walker seem to be out. https://res.cloudinary.com/new-york-city-ballet/image/upload/v1663707528/Documents/Casting/NYCB_Casting_October_4-9_2022_lobby.pdf
  9. A lot of dancers are out of shape after a long injury. Remember Tiler Peck looked out of shape when she first came back.
  10. When I saw Bouder on Tuesday night she didn't look out of shape to me. At least not visibly. But her dancing was leaden and effortful. She used to be such a strong, fast, dynamic dancer. I was not used to seeing her so careful and slow.
  11. Sterling will be back tonight: https://www.instagram.com/p/Ci5M95pgwjO/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  12. Sterling Hyltin was replaced in Duo tonight by Indiana Woodward.
  13. LaJeronemy Brown according to his IG has become a fashion designer and drag queen.
  14. Week 2 casting is out. https://res.cloudinary.com/new-york-city-ballet/image/upload/v1663107320/Documents/Casting/NYCB_Casting_September_27-October_2_2022_lobby.pdf
  15. After reading about John Wayne's offscreen life I can barely watch his movies anymore. What a vile person.
  16. Misseldine I think is quite tall and PP is a role for shorter dancers.
  17. There's videos of Sinfonietta on YT:
  18. Misty has been on maternity leave.
  19. Thanks for the reports! And I agree that Huxley's Oberon is a marvel. Truly the gold standard.
  20. A lot of judgments and assumptions about Kovaleva's character from one harmless post.
  21. Damn Gustave Le Gray is cursed. I wanted to see it in the spring and it was also canceled due to covid.
  22. By far the three worst works I ever saw at NYCB were by white men. They are: 1) Boris Eifman's Musagete. Awful. Beyond awful. A crude, vulgar sendup of Mr. B's life. 2) Neverwhere by Benjamin Millepied. The leather costumes were nice, I guess. 3) Shambards by Christopher Wheeldon. It was a dark, muddled mess.
  23. Sarah Lane was also there. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf135WluiTf/ Again, a surprise given the way her ABT career ended.
