  1. Exactly! If an old tweet pops up of someone saying something offensive as a teenager, I try to forgive and move on, as teenagers don’t have fully developed frontal lobes and usually have very little experience with the larger world. From a 29 year old man who has seen more of the world than most people I can’t excuse his words as ignorance.

  2. I find that when men speak about how they should be the strong, dominant ones in a relationship, though it’s often coded as an attack on other men they view as weak, it is actually really about women who refuse to accept the role as the weaker sex. But, of course, since men are supposed to be the stronger sex, it must be their fault that women are getting away with it. I’m not surprised their relationship didn’t last.

  3. I would say he did more than that. He is endorsing men as being the strong providers and women as being weak and delicate and needing men to take care of them. He is extending his views beyond just what he prefers to see on stage.

As this is (hopefully) the final cast list, after quite a few changes, I need to choose two casts to see. I’m definitely seeing Boylston/Whiteside/Abrera/Forster. For the second, I’m leaning toward Brandt/Simkin/Seo/Hammoudi. There are still a lot of unsold tickets. I wonder if it’s because It’s coming so quick on the heels of Nutcracker.

  5. Well, he has an Instagram account now, and he has an interesting rant about how men should be men and women should be women. I think I preferred it when I knew less about his thoughts.

  6. She was so beautiful, I actually cried. I especially loved the two of them together. Because our daughter was in the show the past three years, we’ve seen every other cast multiple times, but my husband said this was definitely his favorite. Christine Shevchenko is just the perfect combination of technical skill and warmth and emotion. She moves her upper body so beautifully. The audience really seemed to love them, too.

Kenneth Easter, who teaches at the school, came out of “retirement” to play the grandfather and Mother Ginger, which thrilled the students.

  7. That analogy doesn’t really apply. If someone was looking at Google maps and a financial record popped onto the screen showing you were stealing from the person, then the analogy might fit. If I asked someone to borrow a pen, he directed me to a drawer, and there were clearly visible naked photos of me in the drawer, I wouldn’t just close the door and move along. Maybe I’m angrier, but I feel that your right to privacy ends the moment I discover you’ve violated mine.

  8. When Cate Hurlin was Clara as a kid they told her she was going to be the next Gillian Murphy. My daughter was one of the Claras the past two years and they joked that if Cate was the next Gillian, then my daughter was the next Cate. It was sweet, but we don’t take it too seriously! The experience is great for all the kids.

  9. Most of them, but the height limit is 5’2” (and I actually think it was kept a little shorter this year), so there are always a few from other schools. Harlequinade will only be kids from the ABT Gillespie School. The height limit was upped to 5’3” for that show. There are a lot of kids rehearsing both shows for the next couple of months.

  10. That donor seriously disturbs me. I remember someone making a comment that seemed off to me on an ABT Corp member’s Instagram once, so I clicked on the name to see the profile of the commenter. It was him. I just went back to her Instagram to see if I could find him so I could clarify why it disturbed me. I couldn’t find the post but did find something else odd. She went on a non-work European trip and in the comments thanked him and her sister for making it possible. She was 20.
