Oh my gosh! I wish I could see it. She is one of my very favorite dancers and a real idol, hehe. Couldn't one of you tape it and mail it to me? That would be so great!
  2. I know that the National Ballet of Cuba is coming to Virginia on tour this year, but could anyone tell me where in Virginia? I would really love to go and see them! Thanks!
  3. Hi Everyone! I live in Virginia Beach, and I lost power at my ouse at 8:00 Thursday morning! Just got it back last night and didn't have phone or TV or internet until this morning at about 11! Talk about being cut off from the world! Our school let out early on Wednesday so we didn't have dance class Wed, Thurs, or Sat., and as of now I don't know about tomorrow. I have power at my house now, but I think about 2/3rds of the city is still out, and a lot of people all over Virginia too. Power outages seem pretty random here, for instance, I have power, but a street over my friend still doen't have it. The roads are scary, traffic lights down everywhere, and we have city wide curfew. I don't know when we're going back to school. Things got pretty scary here Thursday afternoon. Trees fell everywhere, many uprooted, tearing up sidewalks and crashing thorugh roofs and blocking roads everywhere. I was lucky, we had two fall, out in the yard, but we almost had one big gum tree uproot and fall into our house, we could see the ground breathing! My mother was fractically clearing furniture from the front of the house, but the tree stayed put, thank God! Our neighbors had one hit their house and another uproot and fall across the street, tearing up about ten feet of sidewalk, and all of this happened at the same time, senidng them running to the middle of the house! My grandparents came over to my house for the storm, since they live on an island and the water came in their garage. What a past few days!
  4. This is totally off subject, but grace, I absolutely idolize Ferri, she is my favorite! I have a bulletin board in my room which is covered with pictures of her. I'm dying to she her perform live, hopefully in Giselle because I already have seen Romeo and Juliet but Julie Kent danced it and that's the only live ballet I've seen. But my partner gave me a DVD of her in Giselle as a present because he knows how much I admire Ferri and I love it! I cried like five times when I watched it, during the Mad Scene the first time I saw it, and then the end when the sun comes up always gives me chills and make me want to cry. She's such a beautiful dancer and I admire her musicality and acting ability and everything about her so much! I was so happy when I watched ABT's variety and virtuousity video and she gave so much good advice in it! I hope I get to see her or meet her one day! Have you ever seen her or met her?
  5. I want one! So, those of you who have it, what's it like? Full of photos? Does it have a lot on the dancers, and the ballets they dance? You say they talk about classes, auditions, and coaching, so does it talk about the life behind the scenes I'm taking it? More detail! I would love to get my hands on this book, for really, reading anything and everything about ballet facsinates me. I've already ransacked and read everything that my teacher owns!
  6. I'm not sure exactly where to put this, but here it goes. Do dancers answer fan mail? I have wanted to write a letter to Alessandra Ferri, my favorite dancer, for a very long time. Is there a chance she would answer? Also, if I was to ask a dancer for a pair of old pointe shoes, would she give them to me? I would love to have a pair! Thanks
  7. I LOVED it! Now I understand about musicality and all of those indescribable things that make a dancer great. I can't describe what was so special, but I just know that Julie Kent absolutely had it. When she stabed herself I flinched! Gosh it was beautiful. The whole thing was beautiful. We got lost trying to find the Kennedy Center for hours because we left our directions at home, but it was so worth it! I'm so glad I got to see it, live is definetly better than tape!
  8. Wow. Both dancers seem so great. I am going to stick with Julie, even though I saw Alessandra Ferri and Julio Bocca do it on tape, and absolutely loved it. I just hope I can see Alessandra Ferri dance before she retires. I am really looking forward to this.
  9. This question problably doesn't belong here, but I have a question about seating. If I am not sitting near the center but I am pretty close to the front, will I still be able to see the entire stage? Also who would be better to see? Julie Kent or Alessandra Ferri, or does it really matter? This is going to be my first live ballet.

I am sorry, I just read it somewhere and I was wondering whether it would be worth it to see her dance as opposed to Julie Kent or one of the others. Now that I think of it it's really a dumb question because it is totally subjective. Sorry I spelled her name wrong too; I should have taken the time to look it up.

Is she good. I have read here that she is annoying. Why?
  12. Thank you Alexandra. I don't want to buy tickets for Tuesday night if I can go until I know who is dancing.
  13. Does anyone know where I can fnd the casting information for the ABT Romeo and Juliet and the Kennedy Center in February?
