Thanks for posting the link for the prix de lausanne. I watched it with my daughter. I had a question on how the YAGP, Jackson or NY International competitions "compare" to the prix de lausanne in terms of the quality of the dancing. I understand that the prix is the "top serious" ballet competition. Would YAGP be worth attending or is it more similar to the type of competitions that some ballet school comp teams do where so many get "top prize"? We live near NYC and I was thinking of taking my daughter in to see it. Thanks for any info or directing me to a link if this has already been discussed.

I really enjoyed reading these summaries. It would be great if you could include the book title references - or are they all from the book you mentioned? I would like to read them and will look the books up at the internet - our library is void on this topic.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will look for The Magic of Dance. Any suggestions/opinions on specific videos would also be great. The list in Ballet 101 is quite extensive. I've now started reading it.

Although my daughter is in ballet classes 6 days a week, "classes" are not offered in dance history. I have bought several books and videos but not being a dancer myself, I am interested in those that you (who are more knowledgable) feel are classics to be seen/read. With Christmas coming, I would like to buy some - so any links to good sites/stores to purchase them would be appreciated. Thanks.
