  1. I'd want to be a corps member in Cooper's ballet. I wouldn't want to do the bed scene, because it's sleazy, but Jonathan's ballet was BORING!
  2. What about a gift certificate to her favorite dancewear store? That way, she can pick out things she would normally buy- leos, shoes, etc., without worrying about the cost!
  3. Where can I find a CD of some good music to practice to? Just simple barre music for plies and such? Do they sell this kind of music in stores or does it need to be ordered? Thanks!
  4. I dance because it makes me feel special and beautiful. When I was younger, I took dance but didn't really appreciate the way i do know. All through high school I felt like I was missing something, but I didn't know what. Finally, at the start of my Senior year, I signed up for an adult ballet class. I immediately fell in love with ballet. Even though I am too old for a professional career (im 19 now), I love it. I am not fat, but I am not real skinny either, and yet i never felt beautiful until I started ballet. Now I feel beautiful. I will be starting pointe next year, as a 20 year old, something I never though I would do, and it is one of the biggest things i feel I've ever accomplished. Yes, dancing is very good for my self esteem.
  5. Here's my take on the issue. Ballet is an ART form, correct? Dance is an art... an the arts are all about expression. I think that pointe work is overused nowadays, as someone said. You don't need a pair of pointe shoes to express what your trying to convey. Sometimes, you can convey that same pointe much more beautiful on demi-toe. Pointe work is beautiful when trying to convey flying, or fluttering, or a step that must be done on pointe. But a lot of things can be done flat... in my opinion, that is still ballet, it is still an art, and it is still as useful or meaningful as a female dancing the same thing on pointe.
