  1. So, are you saying that the winners have already been determined? I don't think that this is the case. According to the press release on the Cincy Ballet website, there is indeed a competition held in Moscow. Here is an excerpt: Here is a link to the CB website and the complete article: http://www.cincinnatiballet.com/html/lib/p...nois_relase.pdf
  2. I don't usually post over on this board, but thought that this book deserved being brought to the attention of the users here. I heard a very interesting interview with the author on NPR last week that really caught my attention. While much of the hype about this book focuses on the wild times in the classical music world of the seventies, the focus of the interview was on Tindall's research into the disparity between the salaries of performers and artistic directors, conductors, etc. She includes the ballet world in her discussion, as there are many similarities in the way artists are trea
  3. I was neither red-headed or freckled, but I loved Anne of Green Gables and still do. I have always wanted to visit the area where the story is set. But, for now, my vacations are always around wherever my daughter goes for an SI. However, maybe one day... By the way, being from Oklahoma, all the places that the international posters are from sound very exciting to me! (No, I don't know anyone who lives in a teepee. Yes, I've been in a tornado. Her lucky students get a very rare opportunity to work one-on-one with a ballet legend. I do not know of any other dancer, of this stature in the US, that has been willing to give this much of their time and of themselves in order to train the next generation. I know of many ballet luminaries that guest teach at summe
  5. I was searching the web looking for summer ballet programs and via another link from another site, happened onto this one. I found the information to be so helpful to me, a novice ballet mom, and the people all seemed genuinely interested in sharing their knowledge and experience. Since becoming "hooked", I have found this site to be a safe place to share concerns, get thoughtful and helpful answers and know that there are always "professionals" watching and participating in all that is being discussed. The added bonus for me has been the many cyber friends I have made, many of whom I h
