Grim news at New York City Ballet just published: Chase Finlay has resigned with immediate effect; Zachary Catazaro and Amar Ramasar are suspended from duty until the winter 2019 season. This piece by Joshua Barone and Sopan Deb gives a few more details, but as yet few are known. The company began rehearsals today for the new season: dancers were advised last night of the news by Jonathan Stafford, head of the team currently directing the company. An immediate concern is the new shortage of male dancers, specifically tall male dancers, for the leading roles of the repertory. The new season commences on September 18. Tuesday 28 August.
