NEMEA

Recommended Posts

the attached scan of a stereoscopic slide shows a scene labeled as "L'Etang Fleuri" from NEMEA. The "statue" of Amour on the right points up a key figure in the July, 1864 French production of a Saint-Leon ballet that was created earlier (as FIAMETTA) for St. Petersburg's Bolshoi Theater (to music by Minkus). the Parisian NEMEA was given in the Imperial Theater of the Opera. (it apparently was never shown at the Garnier.)

the role of L'Amour was made famous by Eugénie Fiocre, whose legs as the male god were much praised.
