Natalia
WAAAAHOOOO!!!!! Greatly deserved, I may add. Lovely artist who has more than fulfilled her promise as a junior gold medalist at the Varna IBC of 1996. Could it have been nine years ago that she won that medal??? She was already a great technician then; now she is much more than that -- an exquisite artist. Congratulations, Michele. Natalia Link to comment

nysusan
Congratulations to Michelle - she really deserves it. She's done a great job in some difficult principal roles this season, I think she's ready for it. Link to comment
zerbinetta
Excellent news! Aren't promotions normally announced at the end of the season? May we hope there will be some more promotions in the works? Several deserving others come to mind. Link to comment
Andres
A well deserved promotion. I thought she danced a very fine Raymonda this season. Lets hope the dancer she is often partnered with Ronald Hallberg receives the same. Link to comment
bingham
Congratulations to Michele. She deserved this promotion after her Raymonda-Sylvia performances!!! Are there any other promotions coming? from the corps? Joe Link to comment
Starr
Good for Michele! The Royal announced Edward Watson's promotion to principal separate from the others, so maybe ABT is doing the samething. Link to comment
carbro
It will be interesting to hear from those who saw her first and second Medoras of this current run -- if the added confidence or excitement of her elevated status gives her extra juice. I was in DC on Friday, unable to see the first. Maybe some posters will be able to compare the two for us. Personally, I find the news very gratifying but hardly surprising. Link to comment
zerbinetta
Is David Hallberg's first name really Ronald? David suits him much better. Link to comment
Andres
Yes, Zerbinetta I agree with you David is a far better first name for Hallberg. At least I did not say Gillian Wiles. Link to comment
paulofnyc
I didn't see the announcement and didn't know of her promotion until I received the City Center brochere in the mail today. I did think she should be made a principle for some time now. I also thought that NYCB would invite her to join them. This seems to be the first promotion in many years for ABT. Link to comment
mussel
This seems to be the first promotion in many years for ABT. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> IIRC, Gomes and Murphy were promoted in 2002 while Reyes and Herman Cornejo in 2003. Link to comment
sparklesocks
I saw Wiles dance when she won the Erik Bruhn prize here in Toronto - she was wonderful then. Glad to hear she's doing well...as are many of the others who participated in that competition. Link to comment
