For New Yorkers, the Film Forum is showing the Anna Pavlova film Dumb Girl of Portici on September 16th.

Go see this if you can -- it ran here this June and was such a revelation.  When people talk about how Ashton kept wanting "more bending," they always assume it was from his early view of Isadora Duncan, but Pavlova was in that camp as well.  She was all over the screen.

There is also a 2-3 minute opening scene of Pavlova dancing.  Truly a treat.
