Siobhan Burke reviews ABT in La Bayadere for the NY Times:


A ballet’s place on that spectrum depends on, among many things, the people dancing it: Do they care about the world they’re inhabiting, and do they make you care what happens there? “La Bayadère,” seen on Friday at the Metropolitan Opera House in the first of eight performances, has plenty of unmoored ballet-as-sport spectacle. But the leading love triangle — Diana Vishneva as the temple dancer Nikiya, Marcelo Gomes as the warrior Solor and Gillian Murphy as Gamzatti, the Rajah’s daughter, who comes between them — imbued the night with rich dramatic purpose, making for long spells of edge-of-your-seat watching.

Carlos Acosta announced his retirement in 2 years' time:


Carlos Acosta has announced that he will retire from classical ballet with a "swan song" production of Carmen.

Acosta, the world-renowned dancer, said he would make his final appearance in classical ballet in two years' time.
