The GELSEY KIRKLAND ACADEMY, under the direction of Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov, announces its Spring Performance, featuring approximately 45 dancers in a program of original ballets, character dances, excerpts from ballets by Petipa and Bournonville, and George Balanchine's rarely seen comic ballet A La Francaix, Thursday June 2, 7:30 PM, at the Miller Theater/Columbia University, 2690 Broadway (at 116th Street).

Located in downtown Manhattan and founded in 2010, the Academy here celebrates the achievements of its students and school over the course of this inaugural year of the Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet.

The program will see excerpts from the Petipa ballets Paquita and Harlequinade

Bournonville Etudes, Mime Scene from Folk Tale, and Ballabile from Napoli by Bournonville

Grand Pas Classique by Victor Gsovsky

Waltz of the Hours from Coppelia by Saint-Leon

Flames of Paris (excerpt) by Vasily Vainonen

Stealing Time by Michael Chernov.

Character dance has not been forgotten, and the dancers will perform

Gypsy Dance from Don Quixote

Ukrainian Dance by Nadejda Loujine

Hopak by Rostislav Zakharov.
