rg
scan of an undated publicity photo of Ballet Theatre's LA FILLE MAL GARDEE - presumably in the production credited to Nijinska, with Kriza as Colin and Alonso as Lisette; something about Kriza's costuming, posture and expression tell almost more about Alain than about Colin but he seemingly danced only the latter, not the former, character. cubanmiamiboy
What a lovely pic rg...! A good reminder of the upcoming presentation of this version/staging by the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami. Will be there to report... Link to comment
rg
scan of another photo from Ballet Theatre's LA FILLE MAL GARDEE with Edward Caton's Simone between Kriza's Colin and Alonson's Lisette. there is a stamp of 1954 on the back of the photo. Link to comment
cubanmiamiboy
Ah...thanks for that pic, rg. This is indeed the BT's Nijinska-after Gorsky/Petipa staging that Alonso, along with that of Balachova for the Ballet Russes de Monte Carlo-(in which she also danced)- used to stage the one for the Cuban Ballet in 1952, still faithfully kept in repertoire. Alonso has extensively praised Kriza's interpretation, using it as her main model in her staging. Lovely picture. Link to comment
Mel Johnson
And this production was also the springboard, after it was retired by Ballet Theatre, for Fernand Nault's setting of the ballet on the Robert Joffrey Ballet. Rochelle Zide and Gerald Arpino were Lisette and Colas. Link to comment
