Mel Johnson
Does anybody have a line on who the dancers and choreographer were for the above-captioned show? It looked to me as though they had taken some pains to come up with pretty good talent, even though our view of it was entirely fleeting. To tell you the truth, I was a little disappointed in this episode, but that particular production value was unusually good for a TV series. Link to comment
Memo
Shanda Sawyer choreographed the piece. It was filmed in LA. They used local dancers ballet and contemporary people. Good cast. Link to comment
Andre Yew
I missed the episode, but it should be on Hulu soon I hope. Some of the dancers were from Los Angeles Ballet, including the sylph from their upcoming La Sylphide performances later this month. --Andre Link to comment
Mel Johnson
I had to ask, because the credit roll wasn't much help. They looked unusually well-integrated, and the roll was squashed into the bottom of the screen to make room for a promo for another program. Unions really ought to protest this kind of squeezing out of credits. Link to comment
Pointe1432
I was hoping they would be smart enough to use LA Ballet! When my husband and I saw the preview last week we cringed for fear of what might come up. It's wonderful to be pleasantly surprised! I remember being pleasantly surprised also by Summer Glau as Giselle in an old episode of Angel. However, the ball got dropped somewhere in the editing room on that one when they left a far away shot in of her partner with a post-surgery cast on. I can't wait to get a better look at those House credits! Link to comment

That doesn't mean they don't have them somewhere, just that I couldn't find them. But you can watch full episodes there, 8 days after they've been broadcast. House (I know this isn't really dance-related, but thanks for mentioning the problem with condensed credits -- as someone who sits through all the credits in the movie theater, I'm always irked when the credit roll for a program I've been watching gets squished or deleted!) It’s customary now. If you watch reruns of older sitcoms like Seinfeld, Friends, and Frasier, you’ll note that there are follow up jokes that run through the credits, but those are pretty much out the window. The running times of shows are shorter now and to keep people from channel surfing the beginning of one show often follows the end of the previous show immediately, and the closing credits can be used to promote other shows. Andre Yew
Oddly enough, I did see the credits. They didn't mention the company, only individual names. Role titles were things like "Ballet dancer #5". There was an audition process for the roles, and the auditions happened right after a matinee, so they went from Balanchine to House! It was interesting how they contacted prospects, too --- it wasn't through the dance company but through individual dancers' agents, and then word spread from there. --Andre Link to comment
