MinkusPugni
The music for Raymonda's variation in the Dream Scene after the Valse Fantastique is not from Raymonda. It's a slow waltz that gradually gets faster entitled "Valse.Adagio - Piu Mosso - Animato". Where does it come from? I'm under the impression that it comes from "The Seasons". If so, what specific section? Link to comment
Mel Johnson
Are you referring to the Valse from the orchestral suite, "Scenes de Ballet"? The big Valse in "Seasons" is in the Summer section. Link to comment
rg
in the article noted below, there is the following sentence: "The original third variation was eliminated before the first performance and Petipa substituted an arrangement of the Valse from Glazunov's SCENES DE BALLET, Op. 52 (1894), as a variation for Raymonda." --p.80 Fullington, Doug. Raymonda at 100. Ballet review. New York. v. 26, no. 4 (winter 1998), p. 77-86. Discussion of the original production of the ballet Raymonda which premiered in 1898 with choreography by Marius Petipa, summary of the plot, and description of several revivals.
