richard53dog Posted March 6, 2005 Share Posted March 6, 2005 I have yet to see an opera conducted by VG (in Russia or elsewhere), but to everyone I've met in St. Petersburg, he is an absolute genius. "You haven't listened to an opera until you've listened to one conducted by VG," they tell me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We hear a lot of VG at the Met. There is a very important detail. It has to a a Russian opera. Anything other kind always seems to come off like a trainwreck. Listening to a NON-Russian opera conducted by VG is indeed an experience. Richard Link to comment
