    Petipa Gala

Clearly, Makhar Vaziev has no problem with experienced/semi retired/ retired dancers as long as they're not Bolshoi legends, if you are a Bolshoi legend (and over 36 years of age) then you're blacklisted. The destruction of the muscovite tradition.

Nureyev to be performed on June 27 (with Ovcharenko as Rudolph)

    The Bolshoi under Vaziev

It was performed months ago (By the Monte-Carlo troupe) it makes Neumeier's Anna K look like a decent production.

    Petipa Gala

Ahhhhhhh, I hadn't understand it that way!

    The Bolshoi under Vaziev

Re Vaziev, obviously he is a poor innocent inexperienced AD with his hands tied, obviously he has no power, nope, it's not him the one cutting the careers of certain Bolshoi luminaries, it isn't him the one choosing the repertoire, it isn't him the one bringing nonsense like Malliot's La Belle to the Bolshoi, it certainly isn't him the one getting rid of Bolshoi ballet masters (Have fun in your dacha, Yuri Vladimirovich!) And it isn't him the one casting his unprepared protégés in leading roles every week, no it's not his choice, it's someone else's but not Vaziev's, of course.... Oh, but Filin was the devil himself! 😒

    Petipa Gala

I've never said that, just that I find amusing that Ratmansky only reconstructs things that have already been reconstructed (with only one exception) Here, I absolutely AGREE with you.

    Petipa Gala

Allow me to doubt it (your last paragraph) Moscow will have to wait until next year to have a proper celebration of Petipa, when the Ekaterinburg ballet brings Yuri Burlaka's wonderful recon of Harlequinade for next year's Golden Mask. (Recon made for Samara Ballet 4 years ago, because you know, there are people who don't go around "reconstructing" ballets that have already been reconstructed...)
  10. Ovcharenko and Shrainer will lead the cast of Coppelia for cinema broadcast. A disgrace.

    2017 -- 2018 Season

The extremely talented and drop-dead gorgeous Brilyova is on maternity leave. I doubt Fateyev will give her the opportunities she deserves since he hates Vaganova graduates.

    Petipa Gala

I wouldn't call it a ballet either, but it does have some lovely passages, moreover this is a quintessentially French piece, and Russians can't/shouldn't dance it.

    Petipa Gala

I don't know if Vaziev asked directly for those dancers or if the different ADs decided which dancers to send to Moscow, either way it's not short of a DISGRACE that the two "POB" ballerinas to dance in the gala happen to be Park and Pagliero, neither of them French or French trained, and seriously, Hugo Marchand to dance at the gala? That embarrassment of a "dancer" with NO technique! My goodness what a tragedy! Heymann to save the POB honour, after all no dancer in Russia can rival his magnificent Basilio. - I'm also already cringing at Kondaurova and Smekalov destroying Le Parc. - I see no representation of the Royal ballet, sad stuff if the Russians are the ones to dance Manon, the horror. - Finally, when will Guerin and Ferri stop embarrassing themselves!?, that's it, its over, retire with dignity! No comments on the gala "repertoire" 😀

    2017 -- 2018 Season

Yes, I should have clarified, this was her debut at the Mariinsky but she had danced the role before, I think in Shanghai.

    2017 -- 2018 Season

Shakirova has been dancing Aurora for a while. Not a debut at all.
  16. There is lately nothing good to say about Paris, or France in general, there has just been an attack at the Place de l’Opera. I pray for Mashinka to have a safe trip. The best thing this season (in my opinion) was the De Keersmaeker triple bill that ended just today. But please DO report on your visit.

    Mel Johnson

May he rest in peace, my heart goes out to his family and friends. That Nutcracker thread is a Jewel of Ballet Alert. Never forgotten!
  18. Dupont must want him but I can't understand why he would leave Boston where he dances principal roles to go back to POB where he doesn't, so, either Aurelie promised something or he is home-sick of the contemporary repertoire that no other company in the world has........or simply realized Boston is not enough for him to give up a lifetime contract.

    Andreas Kaas appointed solo dancer

I'm far from being a fan but IT WAS ABOUT TIME, he's among the most decent dancers in the company right now, i just hope he will improve his acting and will get rid of the gawkiness, if Hübbe stops pairing him with Praetorious that would be GREAT! Congratulations Andreas!

That's the Bolshoi under Vaziev, the place where the Primas are subs of sloppy soloists...

    RDB 2018/19 Season

Tell that to Hübbe, giving that he has destroyed several Bournonville and Petipas, he really must think he is a good choreographer, when obviously he's not.

    The Bolshoi under Vaziev

GREAT NEWS! Obraztsova to dance La Sylphide for the first time in 4 years !!! (James will be Belyakov, though)

    RDB 2018/19 Season

Not sure how it wasn't clear that I was refering to the entire season as a horror, when I said "If the Carmen was Petit's at least" I meant that at least that would have been a proved formula, just like Lady of the Camellias, intead of wasting money on a new comission, because excuse me but every single new work created for the company during Hubbe's tenure has made me phisically ill.
