Daria (Vasnetsova) Makhateli will have her Finnish National Ballet debut on Thu 11/12/2014 in The Nutcracker and the Mouse King (chor. Wayne Eagling and Toer van Schayk). She will be dancing the role of Liisa, older sister of Clara. She is also scheduled to dance Mercedes in Don Quixote (Patrice Bart) next year (dates are not known yet). The remaining program for season 2014-15 is following:
THE NUTCRACKER AND THE MOUSE KING (Dec)
DON QUIXOTE (Jan+Mar-Apr)
Premiere KULLERVO (Tero Saarinen-Jean Sibelius) in Feb. Story is based on Kalevala, the national epic of Finland.
Premiere MOOMIN AND THE CORNET (Anandah Kononen) based on a children's book by the Finnish author Tove Jansson in March on the smaller Alminsali stage.
Premiere A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM (Jorma Elo) in Apr-May.
A season celebrating Finnish talent. For those interested in visiting Helsinki, Helsinki is only a short train ride (3,5 hours) from St. Petersburg - the obvious main attraction in the area.
