  2. On Sunday, September 11, the ballet documentary, "First Position," will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival at the Isabel Bader Theatre at 3:30pm. The film follows six talented dancers as they prepare for the Youth America Grand Prix New York City Finals which could transform their lives overnight. They surmount injury, disappointment, and grueling rehearsals in a passion to succeed that trumps money, politics, and even war. Dave Robson of Sound on Sight wrote, “First Position is an enjoyable look inside the competitive world of ballet. In my mind, the talent of the dancers alone recommends the film." "Brian McKechnie of Criticize This! called the film a “…beautiful and thoughtful masterpiece.” He also wrote, “The passion and talent from these kids is stunning to watch and will leave an impression on everyone who sees it."
