  1. I always have a few books on the go. Currently I'm working on Pilgrim's Progress . My U.S. history teacher thinks it is absolutly vital that we attempt it. I'm also reading the book The Design of Everyday Things . I hope to attack Sophie's World before school starts. CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corp.) is currently broadcasting Orphan at my Door by Jean Little in installments. I'm making sure that I tune in everyday, since Jean Little is one of my favourite authors.
  2. I know this might sound strange, but if she commutes, metro tickets are normally appriciated (The cost tends to build up). Other than that, tights, tights and more tights! Or a rubik's cube, to pass time backstage at performances. Mine was the best present I ever got! I now own two so I can always have one in my ballet bag. I know that's not really related to ballet, but for me, it is essential.
  3. Thank you so much! Those sites had even more great links!
  4. I don't know if i'm posting this in the right place. Anyway, here's my question... I love knitting and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some knitting patterns related to ballet? For example, one of those bun covers or a sweater. I'm only a beginner knitter (I can't do anything with more than two needles) so it cannot be too complicated.
  5. The Cat dance in Sleeping Beauty (Act 3 I think). I love that part, I can't help but laugh when I see it. I wish it was longer!
  6. I know you asked for one thing, but I have a bigger wish list: I would like to see boxes of bandaids that only contain the little round ones. I'm fed up of having to buy the full boxes. I now have hundreds of regular bandaids and it's getting a bit expensive! I would also like to see pointe shoes that come in wider sizes than they do now. Especially in small sizes. And one last thing, invisible-style hair nets that last more than 4 classes. Really durable ones would be great!
  7. I was wondering, is there any ballet companies out there that don't use pointe?
  8. I know this may sound like a stupid question and I don't even know if its in the right place, but in the movie Center Stage, what type of dancing is Jodie doing when she goes to the dance class at the other studio?

  10. Lets just be happy that this is over now. This should be inquired into but I think that we should wait until after the olympics, so we don't hurt any of the other athletes in the process (i.e. French skaters in different catergories).
  11. I love the movie Ballet Shoes. I'm pretty lucky because my academic school's library has a copy (which I've borrowed many times). I also like the movie White Nights. The plot and atmospheric music are horrible but in one scene Baryshnikov turns 11 pirouettes!!! I'm not kidding! I watched it slide by slide. There was no cutting in the film, or merged scenes. I still rent that movie, just for that scene!
