I was just wondering if anyone had any really good suggestions for videos that consist of the main Balanchine works that make up NYCB's repatoire. I am looking for pieces like Symphony in C, Apollo, Who Cares?, Serenade, and stuff like that. Thanks!

A series of tapes called "The Balanchine Library" has many of those and more. You can check what's available at Amazon, which you can contact at the upper right hand corner of this page.

of the ballets you mention in passing here, the only ones semi-available commercially are 'apollo' and 'who cares?' both of which are excerpted on the cassettes called 'balanchine celebration parts 1 & 2' that are part of the balanchine library/nonesuch.
alas they are not complete and no complete versions of these or the other works you give as examples is now on the market.
'serenade' was shown on PBS/dance in america as part of a program called 'balanchine in america' but this has not been released commercially.

Thank you so much! I did an internet search last night for the Balanchine library and it looks great. I will have to purchase that. Also, I rented a video called Choreograpy by Balanchine part 1 and I enjoyed that. I love Balanchine's choreography!

I searched Amazon.com and you are right! I could spend $1,000! All the really famous ballets plus a bunch of Balanchine. Thank you for pointing that out to me.

I do have the NYCB, Royal Ballet, the Mariinsky and the Bolshoi "Symphoni in C", which is one of my favorite ballets. I would like to exchange with a copy of Concerto Barocco, again one of my favorite ballet but quite unoptainable it seems.( I do have the Concerto Barroco filmed in Germany, which Balanchine apparently greatly disliked and which is almost unwatchable.)

I have too many Balanchine which pass on TV as Stars and Stripes, tarentella, Episodes, La Valse, Concerto Barocco (german version), Liebesliederwaltz, and so on...
I know that was broadcast Balanchine's Coppelia. Has someone it, I'm ready to trade for it. Contact me at cschemm@club-internet.fr
