Solor, there is certainly a debate about this and people on both sides of that issue here, but we started this Competitions forum deliberately as a place where people who believed in competitions could talk undisturbed. If you'd like to start a thread on the topic, try "Issues in Ballet" - and you are certainly welcome to do so - but I'm closing the thread here.

I thinik moving it rather than closing it might better further discussion
Solor, this topic has come up before so there might not be as many responses as you would like, but we've had a lot of new people join since the topic was last discussed -- so, pro and con, what do you think?

It wasn't remotely offensive, just in the wrong forum.
Why not tell us your reasons for feeling that way about competitions - no reason not to revisit the topic.
(Whoops! Never mind! I see you did on another thread.)
