Diamond Project Roundup?

Recommended Posts

I know that we've mentioned the Evans and Bigonzetti pieces, but I hope I can encourage mention of the other Diamond Project premieres. Would anyone care to comment on the new Stephen Baynes work, Twilight Courante? I found the work fluent, if a bit even-toned.

Please chime in on any of the new or revived works that haven't gotten mention!

I saw this Saturday evening May 25, and i thought it was ok - I didn't love the music, although the choreography was nice. There were some parts ( particularly in which there was only one couple dancing) that i thought were beautiful. There were other parts i thought looked sloppy and poorly rehearsed. There was one time when there were 3 couples on stage and they were all hitting the same poses at slightly different times (so it was obvious it was not meant to be in cannon), and it looked very unclean. Also, i thought it was slightly long. I also saw Haiku on the 21st and LOVED it - i thought the choreography and the dancers were astounding. The three women (Faye Arthurs, Aesha Ash, and Carla Korbes) all had beautiful feet and were SO flexible, which really complimented the choreography. I also loved the percussion music - something new and different!
