Marc Haegeman
In October 2002 the Kirov Ballet performs in Paris (for the first time since 1994), as part of a grand "Saison Russe" at the Théâtre du Chatelet. The programme consists of a Fokine Evening (with Petrushka, Scheherazade, Polovtsian dances from Prince Igor, Spectre de la Rose, Firebird), the Shemyakin Nutcracker and the new/old La Bayadère. Estelle
Thanks for the information, Marc. It's great to see that the Kirov will finally come to Paris after so many years... But it's a pity they don't bring "Jewels" or their "Sleeping beauty". By the way, the ballet season of the Chatelet will also include another company (in june 2003): the Ballet de Bordeaux with a "Picasso and dance" mixed bill including Massine's "Le Tricorne" and "Parade" , Lifar's "Icare" and some flamenco by Christina Hoyos (all those works with sets and costumes by Picasso), with the Orchestra of Bordeaux. Naoko S
Thanks Mark & Estelle for the info.! Can't wait to see the new Nut & Bayadere - my wishful thinking is that Lopatkina will be able to join the tour returning from 'maternity leave' (the info. I spotted in Jeannie's posting somewhere else)! Estelle, Does Bordeaux Ballet frequent to Paris (like at least once a year)? That's one of the French companies I've wanted to see, but for this occasion it's very unlikely I'll be able to attend. I'd really love to see them before Jude completely retires as a dancer...
