Jayne
I suspect a lot of folks unhappy at La Scala's choice in AD would be happier with this program. Link to comment

volcanohunter
"Bavarian State Ballet: Bringing you the hottest new ballets of the 1960s and 70s" I love most of the ballets in question (well, not Spartacus), but you have a point. Link to comment
kbarber
I love them too, and I even like Spartacus, but really it's kind of moribund programming. Not a single new creation. If the RB had taken that "traditional" an approach to programming in the 60s and 70s we wouldn't HAVE Fille (or Mayerling, which the Stanislavsky is bringing on tour to Munich). Link to comment
sandik
Only one mixed rep program -- is this usual? Link to comment
mussel
Have any companies staged Grigorovich's Spartacus outside the former Soviet bloc countries? I can't think of any. I'd take a season like this over anything full of McGregors, Scarletts, Pitas,... Link to comment
naomikage
The National Ballet of Korea has performed Grigorovich's Spartacus before, with guests from Bolshoi. Link to comment
miliosr
Perhaps Zelensky, with this programming, is building up good will with the audience before introducing a round of new works. Link to comment
kbarber
I believe Australian Ballet did Spartacus quite a while ago. Link to comment
volcanohunter
When the Australian Ballet toured the United States in 1990 it was with a production of Spartacus by László Seregi. I don't know whether they ever did any other version. (I went to see Suite en blanc and Maina Gielgud's production of Giselle, but I passed on Spartacus.) The Seregi version is available on video. http://www.ausballetstory.com.au/2012/01/july-august/ Link to comment
