Alymer,
As a viewer I'll admit I actively dislike Nureyev's productions of the classics (I think them overchoreographed and fussy and the dramaturgy that of a committed amateur freudian) but I think a strong case can be made for them organizationally and from the dancers' perspective, and both Manuel Legris and Guerin have done so in interviews. Legris basically said those productions are what maintain the company's technical level. I respected Guerin all the more for knowing what was good about the works and what wasn't, and loving them all the same.
I'd like to hear more about why you like them. I'm sure a case can be made from the audience's point of view as well.

Alymer, thanks a lot for your message!
And please, feel free to elaborate about Nureyev's productions.

Leigh, Estelle; I'm about to leave for a few days work in Munich, but I'll post something as soon as I get back. Can I just say though that although I wouldn't describe any of those productions as being, from my point of view, "the ideal production" if indeed such a thing exists, I think you can make an arguement for them, in that theatre, at that time.
