For the past 5 years, Indianapolis City Ballet has put on a gala featuring some of the best dancers in the world. PBS Indianapolis has just released a 1-hour film about the galas which is a feast for balletomanes, including the following repertoire:

Le Corsaire grotto pas de deux with Marcelo Gomes and Paloma Herrera (ABT)

Piazzola Tango with Daniel Ulbricht (NYCB)

Age of Innocence (Edwaard Liang) with Victoria Jaiani and Fabrice Calmels (Joffrey Ballet)

Ami (Marcelo Gomes) with Thomas Forster and Alexandre Hammoudi (ABT)

The Fifth Season pas de deux (Helgi Tomasson) with Yuan Yuan Tan and Damian Smith (San Francisco Ballet)

Diana and Actaeon pas de deux (Vaganova) with Iana Salenko (Berlin State Ballet) and Herman Cornejo (ABT)

In addition, the following dancers also appear in the film, either as voiceover interviewees or in rehearsal:

Maxim Beloserkovsky (ABT), Daniil Simkin (ABT), Alicia Amatriain (Stuttgart Ballet), Tiler Peck (NYCB), Guillaume Coté (National Ballet of Canada), Julie Kent (ABT), Jason Reilly (Stuttgart Ballet), Robert Fairchild (NYCB), Jose Manuel Carreno (ABT), Isabella Boylston (ABT)

The film can be streamed from the Indianapolis PBS station website:

This year's Evening with the Stars will be on November 22 at Clowes Hall on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis. Program TBA

If PBS Indianapolis can present a quality ballet program, why can't Channel 13( PBS-NY) do a similar program? Just asking.

I was disappointed by many of the choreographic selections, but I have a feeling this was a matter of broadcast rights. Still, it was very frustrating for me to see all those backstage shots of Tiler Peck but none of her performance.

I imagine you are correct.

Thank you kbarber for posting that link.  Terrific dancing!  At first I couldn't figure out what the audience was gasping/laughing at during Gomes' piece and then I realized it was over Forster's and Hammoudi's beautiful arches.  Guess they don't see nice feet in Indianapolis?!

no I think they were laughing at the competitive nature of the piece.
