but it had been, until recently, on the schedule of my local cinema, which has shown all the other programs this year.

Oddly enough, Seattle still shows up on the ROH map, but the link leads to Bicester in Oxfordshire. Likewise Los Angeles has become confused with Innsbruck, which has a "Hollywood Multiplex," and Santa Fe with Barcelona, which has a cinema on Carrer de Santa Fe de Nou Mèxic.

Let's just hope the ballet comes back next season as Cineplex promises.

Well, I imagine that Los Angeles would be happy to get some of the snowpack that Innsbruck has.  And if there's a wormhole between here and Oxfordshire, I've yet to find it.

It's still far away, but the Royal Ballet has published some casting for its autumn run of Manon. As of today, the cinema broadcast is to star Marianela Nuñez and Federico Bonelli. The other important bit of news is that Francesca Hayward will debut as Manon during the run.

The broadcast of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is to feature Lauren Cuthbertson and Bonelli, both of whom have already been filmed in the ballet, though not together.

As of today, the Swan Lake broadcast is to star Natalia Osipova and Matthew (probably not Solomon) Golding. Have to be careful when you've got multiple dancers with the same surname. wink1.gif

I'm so happy to see how far Golding has gone with the Royal Ballet. If he was still at ABT he'd possibly still be stuck in the corps.

It is Matthew Golding.

I don't think anyone actually thought the Royal Ballet would give a second-year corps member the lead in Swan Lake, but for a few shining hours yesterday the ROH web site had Solomon Golding cast as Onegin and Siegfried.

I'm looking forward to it -- it's gotten such mixed reviews I'm glad for the chance to see for myself.

Has Osipova danced Ashton ballets?  She was scheduled to dance Sylvia at ABT but withdrew.

The Bolshoi used to dance this ballet. Sadly, it hasn't for some years, but Anastasia Stashkevich made her debut as Lise in 2010, so perhaps Osipova did it as well.

Yes. The Bolshoi first performed the Ashton version in 2002 with a cast that included Nina Kaptsova as Lise, Andrei Bolotin as Colas, Gennadi Yanin as Alain and Alexander Petukhov as Widow Simone. Skimming through the dancers' bios, the most recent debutants I could find were Stashkevich and Vyacheslav Lopatin in 2010. I think that's the last time the ballet was performed, which is a real shame, but it does fall within Osipova's Bolshoi tenure (2004-2011). Unfortunately, since the ballet is not listed in the Bolshoi's active repertoire, we can't look into the archive of past cast lists.

P.S. However, I did look at Osipova's Bolshoi page (sorry I didn't do that sooner; thought it had been deleted), and it appears she hadn't danced Lise there, which is a little surprising, because I would have thought it would be right up her alley.
