The Royal Ballet cancelled its evening performance on Saturday after Natalia Osipova was injured in the afternoon:

The Russian ballerina Natalia Osipova, who recently joined the Royal Ballet as a principal dancer, sustained a mild concussion on Saturday afternoon in a collision with a fellow dancer during the matinee performance of Wayne McGregor’s new “Tetractys — The Art of Fugue.”

The injury was announced by Kevin O’Hare, the director of the Royal Ballet, who appeared onstage at the beginning of the evening performance on Saturday.

Child dancers regularly learn aspects of technique that are beyond the capacity of us nondancers. But in big theaters, it’s easy to take much for granted — whereas studio conditions bring us closer to the practical physics of ballet. On Saturday night, when the young dancers of American Ballet Theater’s Studio Company performed at the 92nd Street Y Buttenwieser Hall, their courage was evident — and admirable — in the opening ensemble adagio of the first item.

The German company gave “Liliom” its American debut this weekend at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts.
