Ellen Bar and her team are seeking crowdfunding for post-production costs of a feature-length documentary. They will receive a $10,000 matching grant from the Jerome Robbins Foundation if they can raise $20,000. Here is an email that Ellen Bar just sent out:

If you're receiving this email, it's because you're a fan of our film NY EXPORT: OPUS JAZZ, or a friend of the team behind it. Since that film premiered, many of you have asked - what's next? We're excited to tell you that we have a new project, BALLET 422 - and we need your help to get it across the finish line!

BALLET 422 is a feature length documentary that follows the creation of a single new ballet from first rehearsal to world premiere at New York City Ballet. With unprecedented backstage access, this totally observational (no talking heads!) documentary focuses on the creative process as young NYCB dancer and emerging choreographer Justin Peck works with costume designers, conductors, musicians, lighting designers and his fellow dancers to bring his vision to the stage. This is the first time this process has ever been captured in its entirety at New York City Ballet.

Our incredible filmmaking team includes many key collaborators from OPUS JAZZ - director/cinematographer Jody Lee Lipes, producers Ellen Bar and Anna Rose Holmer - and the new addition of our amazing editor Saela Davis and talented cinematographer Nick Bentgen.

We need to raise a minimum of $20,000 to meet our post production needs. We hope you will help us by donating, or spreading the word to your social networks, or both.

Here's the link to see our project page with a 2 minute teaser on Hatchfund, a crowdfunding site where every gift is tax-deductible.

good news from Ellen Bar:
"we've reached our minimum goal of $20,000 and we will able to finish post production! We've got 19 days left and every dollar donated towards our total goal will help us master the film, license rights for every type of distribution, and compensate the amazing artists involved."
