Sarah Van Patten is SID! (And with those eyes, who would think otherwise?)

But who the heck is SID? Well I've read the descriptions, but still don't really have a 'picture' of SID, the Film. Apparently they are in pre-production on this project:

http://www.sidthefilm.com/

SID is a science fiction ballet film short that takes place in the distant future when human society has all but phased out gratuitous activities, such as the arts. SID, an android, develops the ability to dance as she observes the performance of Rutger, a rogue ballet dancer. Her graceful and soulful dancing inspires love in Rutger, but is met with jealousy by the other humans who cannot accept the idea of an android, a machine, creating art.

While many science fiction films foresee a time when humans are overrun by advanced artificially intelligent machines through warfare, SID reimagines this theme. What if humans are eclipsed by machines not through force, but by our civilization losing track of one of our defining characteristics as humans: our ability to create and appreciate art?

We are launching a crowd funding campaign in October. Its success depends on its ability to connect to bunheads, cinephiles, tech enthusiasts, science fiction geeks, robot hobbyists, WIRED readers, Futurama fans—people who want to see a film like this get made—so no matter how much or how little you will be able to donate, please help by spreading the word about SID !

The SID production team is apparently trying to raise money over the next 54 hours on Indiegogo.

Watch the introductory video to find out more about the project and the project members:
