scan of a newsphoto of Mordkin with some of his pupils taken in his Carnegie Hall studio classroom.

the date of the photo coincides with the start up of Ballet Theatre with which he was affiliated for a short time, and in which his pupils danced, most notably company founder Lucia Chase.

the caption offers no additional information with regard to these particular pupils.

hard to say if the item in his hands is a collapsible "teaching" cane/staff, or something else.

his sneakers are another unusual touch.

Sneakers, yes -- very unusual.  But what wonderful line!
