Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied step out at a dinner in Millepied's honor sponsored by The American Friends of the Paris Opera Ballet.

 

In a salon overlooking Fifth Avenue, Millepied offered plans: His first season will open with a new work and an installation of dancers throughout the Palais Garnier. He wants new scores, new costumes. He wants to perform in museums and collaborate with visual artists.

Atlanta Ballet offers free yoga classes this month.

 

Classes are available at all three Atlanta Ballet studios -- Midtown, Buckhead and Cobb.

Kings of the Dance will perform in Britain next year.

 

Kings Of The Dance will see Italian Roberto Bolle, Russian Ivan Vasiliev and Brazilian Marcelo Gomes, all from the American Ballet Theatre, and Ukrainians Denis Matvienko from the Mariinsky and Leonid Sarafanov from the Mikhailovsky Ballet perform seven works including the London premiere of KO’d to choreography by Gomes.

Ballet Palm Beach plans a series of "flash ballets."

 

While it’s a way to give the ballet company a higher profile, ballet marketer Laura Zele says it’s also intended to lure younger audiences, already familiar with flash mobs on YouTube, to ballet performances.

A review of Northern Ballet in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by Charles Hutchinson for The Press of York.

 

The second act goes into over-drive in Fairyland, the train now white and suspended, along with two beds, as Puck pulls the strings in the pillow-fight clashes of the lovers, conducted at dazzling pace in Nixon’s sexy, humorous and audacious choreography.

With gorgeous wife Natalie Portman at his side, Benjamin Millepied was honored at an NYC reception Sept. 9 for his recent appointment as Director of the Paris Opera Ballet.
