Next week The Telegraph online goes behind the scenes at the Bolshoi Ballet.

But it is only when you witness them walk wearily into a rehearsal room, and start to stretch their limbs before taking their places at the barre that you really see that discipline in action. They will have finished dancing late the night before, they will go on dancing all through the day, yet however famous the name, however great the talent, they turn up for this intense and exhausting work-out, putting their bodies through the exercises that they have performed in one form or another since childhood.

A clip from the next episode of "Breaking Pointe" from The Hollywood Reporter.

The conversation between DeBona and Ballet West artistic director Adam Sklute is telling. When Sklute asks her what she sees herself doing at the company, where she has been a crucial part of the ensemble of dancers for the past few years, DeBona — recently reunited with her former flame, Jonathan — struggles to give him an answer.

An interview with Yoko Morishita.

“I believe it is my mission to offer prayers for peace and to continue to dance,” said the 64-year-old, who has led the Matsuyama Ballet, a major troupe based in Tokyo, since 2001.

Morishita said her grandmother, who survived the Aug. 6, 1945, A-bombing near ground zero but never forgot to enjoy life, had a tremendous influence on her values and way of life.

The latest entry in Sara Mearns' video blog for The Huffington Post, "Barre None."

Honestly, recovery is more about your mental state rather than physical. Your body is smarter than you will ever be -- you meaning your subconscious. Your body knows how to recover and it knows how to repair. Your mind, on the other hand, can take years to recover and repair from an injury or traumatic experience. The mind needs constant TLC and reassurance that it will be okay, that life will calm down and peace of mind will resume.

Cincinnati Ballet celebrates its fiftieth anniversary.

It’s Day 1 of the company’s 50th anniversary season. Rehearsals are about to begin and, for the moment, there is a palpable sense of optimism. Memories are still fresh from April, when the company closed its season with a spectacularly successful collaboration with rocker Peter Frampton. Screaming fans, encores, lighters held aloft. Well, mobile phone app versions of lighters, at least. It was a dazzling way to end the year.
