I haven't seen an obituary yet, but it was announced on the radio and by other announcers on WQXR on twitter that Lloyd Moss, who worked at WQXR from 1953-2006 has died.

He was funny and a true wit, who quoted the 2000 year old man on his (now defunct) wqxr page, and responded in answer to "what is the one thing people should know about you but don't" "That I'm devestatingly handsome."

I've missed him since he went off the air and miss him even more now.

RIP

I thought other people might enjoy this, from when he retired:

""It was the approach of my 80th birthday," he says with a laugh. "That'll do it. It somehow seems slightly obscene to be an 80-year-old deejay."

Very sharp indeed!

Wanted to add -- his children's books are charming.

The URL for the WQXR article is unusual and parsed badly; I've "tinyurl'ed" it, and it now works.  At the top of the article there is a 50-minute interview with Moss, which can be streamed or downloaded into an .mp3 file.

Thanks Helene!

As a heads up, a NYTimes obit is forthcoming.

WQXR has made some of the shows available from its online archives. This is a link to the

20th Anniversary Show
