Simone Messmer is cast in two ballets - verrrrrrrry interesting. And Froustey is taking on Within the Golden Hour - that has to be outside her comfort zone. Bon courage!

The opening night gala and the last show ... looks rather strange.

In comparison, Rubén Martín Cintas, in spite of having retired, will go on stage seven times.

I'm glad to see Hansuke Yamamoto getting good exposure.  He doesn't get the opportunity for major principal roles; I'd really like to see how he would handle Basilio or Franz.  Maybe I see something in him that others don't, but it's been a mystery to me why he is repeatedly passed over for promotion in favor of someone as bland and uninteresting as Luke Ingham.

But only with Kochetkova he will really have a single opportunity to show his partnering skills.

I like Yamamoto's dancing as well. I have to guess that the issue is with his partnering work - it's not enough to look great in solo work, at this type of company all the men need to partner well. There aren't enough dancers to employ 'specialists' - everyone has to be multitasking at a high level. Which is actually what the company will attemp to show off in this program.

I expected to see Messmer's name all over the place. Odd!

A publicity photo posted on Instagram by Ms. Froustey (who is being kept busy with TV interviews and cocktail parties - all good p.r. for the SFB) -

"Hôtel Regina

I believe we see Froustey, Powell, Tan and Kimberly Braylock (if I'm wrong, please correct me)

I heard very complimentary reports from multiple sources about the gala. A Russian source (close to Bolshoi), said after the gala: "a very strong troupe". The same source has been much less complimentary about the current quality of the Opéra ballet troupe. I haven't heard anything about Messmer however. Is she in Paris?

Great to hear this report, Mathilde K. Messmer is scheduled to dance a couple of times, but as usual, I can find no evidence of her particpation/presence in Paris. She obviously has little interest in self-promotion, and doesn't court the media.

I thought she was scheduled to take part only in the opening night gala and the last show of the tour. Is she in Paris at all?

Maria Kochetkova, star des réseaux sociaux...

Sans Francisco Ballet – Gala d’ouverture des Étés de la Danse 2014

The whole world is apparently talking about our "star of social networks".

That's the question: Is she staying with the rest of the company and taking part in the tour experience, or is she just "popping in" to fulfill some contract obligation? I do not know.
