I'm not sure whether you mean simply an equivalent way of choosing, or the public spectacle of an open forum in which the various companies announce their chosen dancers. In a way the network of competitions serves the former's purpose. The most promising dancers are offered scholarships or contracts by participating and observing companies. Link to comment
