David Vaughan will introduce and screen dances by Leonid Massine
February 27, 2013 , Wednesday at 1pm-3pm or 4pm-6pm
Third Floor Screening Room, New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Lincoln Center
Excerpts include films of La Boutique Fantasque, Jeux d’enfants, and two movements of Les Présages. Registration required.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL BE 2 SHOWINGS - see below for times and links to register online (preferred), or call 212.870.1656 to register by phone.

SEATING IS LIMITED, REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Any remaining seats on the day of the screening will be available on a first come, first served basis. Doors open at 12:30pm for the 1pm screening, and 3:30pm for the 4pm screening.

David Vaughan, archivist for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and author of Merce Cunningham/65 Years and Frederick Ashton and his Ballets, will be present on Wednesday afternoons in the Jerome Robbins Dance Division of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center for conversations with dance researchers. On the last Wednesday of the month David Vaughan hosts a screening series where he will introduce and screen a film or videoin the Third Floor Screening Room, so he will not be available for appointments on that Wednesday.

Wouldn't it be nice if they would videotape the whole thing and at least make it available in the future to visitors to the Library? Does anybody know if they are planning something like that?

i don't think a recording of the presentation is planned.
DV noted he needed special permission from the Massine estate, if mem. serves, to present these films, so it would seem the event is approved for the day, tho' it's possible w/ all these films in the JRDC individuals might be able to apply for permission for any films that are restricted and get it for research purposes.
DV has done these for a few months running now: he's shown and introduced some Charles Atlas Cunningham films, Ashton's FILLE MAL GARDEE, EVERGREEN with Jesse Matthews, and some James Waring films.
