A review of Miami City Ballet by Jordan Levin in The Miami Herald.

Ominous, splendid, melancholy and almost overwhelming, Euphotic, Liam Scarlett’s second dance for Miami City Ballet, surged onstage at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Ziff Ballet Opera House for the first time Friday night.

An interview with Lourdes Lopez by Jan Sjostrom in The Palm Beach Daily News.

She’s attracted to multi-disciplinary collaborations, which is central to Morphoses, the cutting-edge, project-based dance company she heads in New York. Plans call for merging Morphoses with Miami City Ballet, possibly as the company’s choreographic arm.

But don’t look for radical changes in the ballet’s aesthetic. “Miami City Ballet will not become a modern company,” Lopez said. “It will be what it is today, a classically based organization.”

Diablo Ballet solicits ideas from Internet users for its new piece.

....Starting now, people can use Twitter, with the hashtag #DiabloWebBallet, to suggest emotions of the dancers, mood of the entire work, specific dance moves and music. There is a bit more to it, which is explained on the website, but suggestions will be accepted through Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.

Choreographer Robert Dekkers is excited. “I’m interested in seeing how I could take limitations and make a challenge for myself to make a cohesive piece,” he said.

A review of the English National Ballet in "The Sleeping Beauty" by Judith Cruikshank for danceviewtimes.

Rojo herself is unquestionably a wonderful dancer, but I suspect Aurora is not a role which especially appeals to her. There was to be sure some truly beautiful and expansive dancing, especially in the vision scene. And although there were lovely moments in Act I she seems to view the Rose Adagio, in particular, as an opportunity to display aspects of her formidable technique, cramming in extra pirouettes to the detriment of the music and holding balances for so long that one of her partners was completely ignored.

The South African Mzansi Ballet looks to the Harvard Business School for marketing advice.

The section 21 ballet company, based at the Joburg Theatre, was established after a merger between the South African Ballet Theatre and Mzansi Productions in mid-2012 but, as staff members have admitted, has struggled to market its shows and make ballet more accessible to Johannesburg residents.
