Martin Pakledinaz 1953-2012

His designs for PNB for Kent Stowell's "Cinderella" and a rare Trust-approved re-design for George Balanchine's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" are beloved in Seattle. He designed the beautiful "Nutcracker" and "Don Quixote" for San Francisco Ballet.
His death is a loss to ballet, modern dance, opera, film, and theater.
Rest in peace, Mr. Pakledinaz.

PNB will be performing Stowell's Cinderella as their opening work for the season (their 40th anniversary) -- amongst the costumes are a set of wonderfully eccentric hats for the cast of little children in the hours section -- the kids are wearing orange and the hats look like pea pods. The last time the company performed the work, everyone I talked to in the lobby wanted one of those hats.
