Wow, this was amazing. She is so versatile; every time I watch her I get a little more impressed. (Her feet in the first piece! Wow! You really notice a woman's good feet when she's wearing slippers vs pointe shoes.)

Thanks for posting this link!

Maria Kochetkova of San Francisco Ballet to Debut with ABT in Swan Lake on Friday Evening, June 21! @balletrusse @sfballet @ABTBallet

Read:

Sadly, the lovely Alina Cojocaru has withdrawn from her 'Swan Lake' performance, due to injury... *but* she will be replaced by San Francisco Ballet's pride and joy, Maria Kochetkova. 'Masha' Kochetkova trained at the Bolshoi School and danced with The Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, and as a guest artist with Bolshoi Ballet and Mikhailovsky Theater before joining San Francisco Ballet as a Principal Dancer. Her list of guest appearances now includes Galas all over the globe. Ms. Kochetkova makes her first ABT appearance as Odette/Odile opposite Principal Dancer Herman Cornejo in *his* ABT debut as Prince Siegfried.

Anyone want to hop a plane to NYC?

Thanks Lion. I would very much like SFB to change the editing of their videos. These principal videos might appear slick from an editing standpoint, but they purposefully obscure the dancing. Would it really kill them to show more than a few steps and a pose? I hate to mention it, but the NYCB is doing a much better job of putting out videos on any and all subjects, and we can at least see 15 seconds in a row from a performance.

Masha does look sharp though. ;)

There isn't as much video of Masha available onlline as we might like, but here's a few interesting ones...

A New Aurora Who’s Been Around the Block

The line-up for ABT’s Sleeping Beauty this week includes some of the company’s greatest stars…But New Yorkers don’t know much about San Francisco Ballet’s Maria Kochetkova, who replaces an injured Alina Cojocaru this Wednesday evening. Based on what I’ve seen of her, I’m pretty excited to witness her Aurora.

Maria gets her cheesecake.

When I saw that photo I wanted to know more. I've never been to that restaurant in Larkspur, but there may be a story behind this...

In the thread discussing All-American Ballerinas we were talking about whether grandeur was necessary, and I've been thinking that this photo proves that grandeur is alive and well among young dancers. ;)

I thought it was the local one too, but I Googled and apparently there's one in Vail, and since she's been there, maybe that's the one. Anyway, the cheesecake looks good!

The story behind the cheesecake - apparently the Larkspur (or perhaps it was the festival) contacted a few of the dancers ahead of time to find out their favorite desserts. They created desserts for them. I asked my son, who was there, about it. He didn't know the whole story, but this was the gist of it. Lil Buck is a vegan and they created some sort of vegan chocolate dessert for him.

Any idea what's behind the name 'Moscow Mule Cheescake'?

The Moscow Mule is a cocktail. I don't think there is any big story to it. I asked my son and he said that Maria said she likes cheesecake. They couldn't just name it Maria's cheesecake, so they tied it in with the cocktail. He said that one of the donors also had a mini wedding cake made for Tiler Peck and Robbie Fairchild.

Moscow Mule refers to a vodka cocktail.
