Have you seen it before without the 3D? If not, prepare to see modern dance, not Swan Lake. I enjoyed it as a theatrical piece and as modern dance, but if I had gone expecting to see Petipa's choreography (except with men as the swans) I would have been really disappointed.

I'm familiar with the work, and agree that it's not a variation of the Petipa/Ivanov work, but I do think it's a very successful dancework using those themes and characters. I'm very curious to see how the 3D camera work affects it -- so far I've had mixed experiences with 3D dance films.

I thought the 3-D Mariinsky "Giselle" was weird: sometimes they looked 3-dimensional and sometimes they looked like cartoon characters dancing around cardboard.

I haven't seen "Pina" in 3D, only in the home video version, which I liked a lot.
